There are many things that benefit neighborhoods that can only be done by municipal governments. This includes turning business areas into neighborhoods that combine both businesses and residences.

1.  Offices into Residences

Convert some buildings in office parks into apartments and condominiums. Turn some of the offices into businesses serving the residents of those apartments and condominiums.

2. Apartments Downtown

Revitalize downtown areas of towns and cities by building new apartments right in the downtown area.

3.  Convert Buildings

Add a story of residential space above existing businesses, tear down old buildings and erect new ones for housing.

4. Shopping Malls

Put living units and telecommuting centers in the malls. Use some of that vast parking area to construct new apartment buildings. Rip up some of the asphalt for community gardens.
